Giving back: Heart Gallery Alabama

Let me just say that I love what I do. I love being able to capture moments for people that they can keep forever. I love what photography is, and I love that I get to do it. There are also other people/companies/organizations who have found how photography can be used not just to capture a moment, but to actually speak to people, to show people things they may not have known about otherwise. Photography can change lives. One organization is using photography to change the lives of Alabama's foster children: Heart Gallery Alabama.

There are over 6000 kids in Alabama's foster care system, and of those over 600 are available for adoption. Many of those will probably be adopted by their foster parents, but many are still waiting for a place they can call home. Heart Gallery uses photography and video to capture the spirit and personality of each child, and they put their portraits up in different venues around the state, raising awareness and helping prospective adoption parents learn more about adopting. Their goal is for every child in Alabama's foster care system to find a permanent, loving family to call their own.

May is foster care awareness month, and in honor of that I am donating 10% of everything I book in May to Heart Gallery Alabama in hopes of helping them achieve their goal. This includes regular portrait sessions, family portrait sessions and weddings (the session does not have to be in May, just booked in May). Please email me for pricing and availability, and help me give back to a very worthy cause.

Every child deserves a family. As Heart Gallery puts it, "There are no unwanted children, only unfound families." To learn more, please visit their website HERE or like them on Facebook.

More of Tammy and Jake...

So I was going to wait until I got the film back to post more of these, but it is just taking too long! Here are a few more of my favorite digital shots from Tam and Jake's wedding. Full post next week when the film lab's machine is back up and running and I can get my hands on those negatives!

Tammy and Jake

This was a very special weekend for me. I got to go to the wedding of one of my oldest and dearest friends, a girl who has been a sister to me for most of my life. I also had the honor of taking a few photographs to capture this special day. Here are a couple of my favorite shots of Tammy and Jake. More to come as soon as I get the film back! Love you Tammy and Jake!

More of Emily in black and white...

There is something about black and white film that is so timeless. I will always love it. Here are the last few shots of Emily I took with my Mamiya 645 with Delta 3200 speed film.

Sweater Girl Bonus Shot!

So when I did Summer's Shoot, I ended up finishing up a roll I started with Miss Emily back in January, and this is quite possibly my new favorite shot from the whole shoot. Can't say enough how much I loved working with this girl!
